SO finally got my 580EX on a light stand, set an umbrella and shot a few, to try. I tried to convince Manouk to stay clear from the wall but she would not have any of it: she just stay there, grinning..
And another test shot of Nathan. I must say that I resisted for a long long time buying a light meter but wow, that thing comes handy!
Today would be Orange day, known as Queen's day...I have been to a few of these in Amsterdam, when kids were still something for the future, and you would order (and drink) bier till you realise you're standing on a huge pile of plastic cups...10 hours later but it felt like 10mns. Some strange experience. I dragged many of my French friends there and my sis and her friends, and they all "lived" the experience and loved it..
When you have kids, you forget about hip Amsterdam andyou stay in your area, wake up really early to bring all the old stuff - you've accumulated during the years and never took the time to throw away - to a designated area, then try to sell it for nar to nothing. A giant boot sale in effect....LOL.

Kids loved it and made 15 euros each. They could not wait to go and spend it...lol. We did not drink bier but tea and coffee. Yes we're getting old...LOL.

I have been looking for such a sideboard for a while, clicking on all vintage stuff links I could find my way. And I did find one....I mean the color matches my floor perfectly so what is it not to like?? Exactly, nothing! I'm very pleased with my scavenger hunt, DH will be too once he stops rolling his eyes everytime he looks at it...Never mind we had to take a detour of about 50 miles to get to it...
And guess who's lounging in mum's and dad's new chair? Yes you guessed it! Our princess...There was no way the boys could even try it, she was there to stay. I cannot begin to tell you how good it feel to sit in it....I have been waiting for 4 months to get this one home...
Kids are on vacation for a week so it's party time here. Slow pace and make your own program so to speak. I'm fighting a stomach bug so did not have such a good night and day but feeling better already. I'm back on running 3 times a week and that feels good...
I'm running late on all my assignmnets for school so the finish will be very tight and I don't grade my chances too high. But I'm doing fun stuff in between the boring tech exercises.
Oh and my mac came home too. What an amazing thing. Honnestly why did I wait so long...Only the packaging is worth every penny. It's just so beautiful. LOL.. It makes any "normal" pc look just so average lol. I was unpacking my keyboard and just could not get myself to bin that perfect white boxe....Apple is making me all giddy... Next to the perfect packaging, it is just soooooooooo easy to set up and use... Plug and Play. And don't get me started on my new 23" screen. I think I'll sleep in my office from now on....Now Laureen, why didn't you tell me to get one one sooner!!!!LOL

He's doing good, limping slightly. Next appointment is May 25th and we'll know more about what next then. He is one strong kid. I am still wondering how he could go through the whole ordeal not complaining much. He has the greatest sense of humor and that enables you to put up with a lot, I suppose.
He's my hero. Teaches me life very day. And his laugh is so contagious.

I have had my eyes on a set of 2 of these as night tables but as lots of things right now, it never happened. Well Ebay was my friend this week. Ordered Monday, delievered today. And they look perfect in our bedroom....
On a side note, I asked Manouk to go and smell the tulips.."they stink...." was the answer...Ok fair enough, tulips don't smell that nice anyway...But they sure look good.
And playing in the box
It started more than a year ago when his brother lost his first one (he has now 4 out)... Nathan saw his brother and all his friends loosing their tooth but his...well, they stayed on, no bulging. It became a bit of an obsession and for the past 2 months he's been pulling on that one tooth, assuring me it was loose.
Well tonight was a big day! He was just the proudest to finally belong to the club. To me he was just one step further in being a big boy!
Well keyboard really.
She's at that stage. You know, pink everywhere, pink everything. She wakes up and tells me she's a princess, not mine..But papa's. Because right now, DH may as well be king, prince or a knight, he has all rights and can do no wrongs with her... I obviously agree with her..She's a princess. Only..she has been given to the care of very average people like us to teach her real life....LOL.

Ha! you thought I had gone for good. Well, as my sister and mother know so well by now, if I seem to have fallen off the face of the earth...Then I'm usually trying to nurse off my migraines.
I got some really nasty ones again. So time again for Dr visits, preventive medecine (yes the one that makes you want to sleep al day long.lol), lots of rest, no pc time etc..Life on hold. It's getting better for 3 days now..So starting emerging slowly.
Unfortunately I had to miss all my running trainings for the past 3 weeks and won't be running the 10K on April 6. Real bummer because not being born a natural runner and having started in Sept, that was really something I wanted to do in 2008. So will run one in June.
Lots of happenings in the past few weeks.
* Boys have changed school and did so well adapting. I mean we expected trouble and so far nothing. I guess it was harder for me. But I'l post more in details in a separate post.
* Manouk has had 3 ear infections within 3 weeks and 2 times antibiotica. Of my 3, she's the one that looks the healthiest. But that's just so far from the truth. Here's a picture of her 2 days ago (after a week of being so sick again).
* School started again. And this second half year will be tough. Lots of studio work and reportages and serie of portraits, erotic #2, self-portrait, etc etc. Challenging, exciting but tough!
* Our living room is coming together and I'm loving it. Will post pictures when it's all there. Still expecting a real cool leather chair. So in love with it. Totally vintage made modern again.
* Oh yeah, nearly forgot. Who knew I had such a cool DH?? He's been the nicest and has posed for me countless evenings since getting my light, to try and prefect hard lighting....LOL. I really like this picture. Never mind the hat was way too small!!!!
And when your daughter walks up to you at 7:00 pm and says: I'm going to bed mommy...You know it's been a GREAT day..

A week skiing is all I need....After an emotional week for us and certainly for the boys, we need a little break. Todat was their last day at their current school, after the vacation they will start at another. Today was a day of shaking hands at the new school, meet the teachers and then back to the "old" school for a round of goodbyes. They both got from their respective class an amazingly nice keepsake. Maxim, a book made of each kids' hand with a message/drawing. Nathan a book with animals of course, prepared by the kids. We went through it tonight, they want to take them on vacation to show my mum and my sister. They were really touched by all the sweet messages. They had made so many friends at that school. But most of them live in the area so they will see them again. It's just not the same.
They are doing ok with it. We are very happy where they are going. Although it's a big change for them especially in the middle of the year, it is for the best.
So this morning, they both packed a present and wrote a card to their teacher. Maxim's read: Dear Zillah, I was so happy in your class. Thank you. Maxim. I'm glad I held it up together when I read it. I could feel a few tears coming. What you do to your kids sometimes. Not nice. Nathan drew a few of his specialties: scorpions, spiders etc..LOL
The teachers were amazingly nice in making this last day as pleasant as possible for the boys and I am so grateful. I think they were also very touched by the presents and the little cards, which made the boys so proud. They are not entirely sure they want to stay at that new school (they say) but I am alsways amazed by the power of acceptance of kids. I'm really proud of them and how they manage their fear and worries.
So the day went by, at home with Manouk, wondering every minute how they were geting on...Manouk had gotten some checks for some toy store so we went hunting for a present. Everything would do as long as it was......One guess??????????????

So she chose a little Barbie sets with fohn, brush etc....She's so girlie. Lives with 2 boys and never miss on the action but, remains such a girl. Love it!
